ANMAT Revokes Licenses of Laboratories Linked to Fentanyl Scandal

In the midst of a case still under development, the National Administration of Medicines, Foods and Medical Technology (ANMAT) revoked the authorizations granted. From the beginning of the investigation, Agencia Noticias Argentina uncovered the background of the case in which 14 entrepreneurs, shareholders, and technicians are being prosecuted, including García Furfaro, owner of the laboratories in question. The development of the case demonstrated that everyone within the companies knew about the contamination in the ampoules, that there was no control by the authorities, nor was there any follow-up by public entities, and that fentanyl was administered to several patients who died later.

Now, as the laboratories currently do not have a responsible technical director and have not presented any plan to reverse the suspensions, ANMAT decided to cancel the files of both firms, according to disposition 1848/2026 published this Friday in the Official Gazette. The original suspension had been issued in May 2025, after verifying regulatory non-compliance, quality deviations, and critical failures in good manufacturing practices.
